Div 3's remain unbeaten on season after friendly win over young guns
December 4, 2009
Nanaimo United had thier Div 3A and the U21 gather at Harewood Big field on a cold Thursday night, for a battle of the unbeatens within the club.
Great game right off the hop. The U21's havent seen any action in 3 weekends and the pent-up energy was evident early, as they tried to take it to the 3's early and had most of the play for the first 15 minutes. The leading scorer for the young guys - Colin Mcdonald- proved why he is at the top of the scoring charts this season, as he stole a bad clearing attempt and neatly slotted it in for a quick 1-0 lead 25 minutes in. The D3's began to assert themselves and slowly momentum changed, and added two of thier own before half. Derrick thierstein with one and ? with the other. The second half saw much more of the same spirited play and Thierstein rounded out the scoring with another at the 75th minute to give the 3's a 3-1 victory on the night. Players of the match go to- Paddy Greig and was a stalwart for the D3's defense and Oliver Catling was as active as ever in the midfield, and Paul Norgan was in the middle of everything on the backline for the U21's.
Awesome showing of club talent on display as the future bodes well for Nanaimo United FC
