Friday Nov 27 - Hampton Park - Div 1 VISL action
United FC - 0 Gorge FC - 4
Another tough one for the 1's. the squad is playing well but having trouble finishing at moment. On friday they truly deserved better as they were the aggressors throughout the first half and could have easily been up a couple. But a few breakdowns led to a 2-0 deficit at halftime ( both set pieces) and another 2 free kicks in the second ended the game at 4-0. The Div 1's are looking to turn things around and have 2 home games before the break and will face tough opponent Cowichan FC at Merle logan on saturday Night soccer. Lets all get out and support our guys!!
Saturday Nov 28 - Merle Logan Field - Div 3A VISL action
United FC - 1 Lakehill Whitecaps - 0 (forfeit)
Nanaimo div 3 menMwere stood up Saturday by Lakehill on a beautiful night at the turf. No phone calls were made by the other team to explain their absence and when coach Stephano Maestrello attempted to contact them, there was no answer. Dissapointing for the boys who seemed anxious to get on the pitch and do their thing. Nanaimo looks foreward to the addition of Terry Strawson and Braidy Morrow who would have appeared for the squad Saturday, had the game been played. Both have alot to bring to a team which is busting at the seams with talent. Nanaimo's next game is set to be postponed and the squad wont see the pitch until December 12th at home to Castaways FC, a team which stole two points from Nanaimo in a draw in early October. The matchup promises to be entertaining as Nanaimo defends their undefeated home record.
Sunday Nov 29th. 2:15 at Caledonia Park Div 4 action
United FC - 8 vs Gorge FC -0
It is challenging to explain an 8-0 win over the top team in the division. Domination from the opening to final whistle would about sum it up. Goals from Sergei (2), Dave the Giant (2), Jamie, Brad, Shelov and to be claimed own goal (Adrian/Jamie) made for a memorable afternoon. Marc asked the team to send a message, and sent it was.
Player of the Game- Dave Aitken
Sunday Nov 29th 12 noon at Caledonia Park - U21 division
United FC - 1 Gorge FC - 0
Once again United's young guns were stood up as another Victoria team chose to not make the trip up island and face the music. This one particularily stung as Gorge had their U21's all over the league over the weekend and obviously chose to put thier committment to the U21 division second. A shame from such a proud organization. The boys havent seen much action lately and settled in for a tough week of workouts and thier schedule will see them travel to Hampton to take on the other Gorge U21 squad this weekend. First meeting of the year for these two clubs as this gorge squad blew off thier trip up to nanaimo as well back in October. gametime is noon at Hampton Park, Victoria
